Activities were yesterday paralysed at the Edo State Government-owned hospitals as some medical workers went on strike.

The state chapter said the action was in line with a directive from its national body.
At some hospitals visited yesterday, relatives were seen discharging their loved ones while emergency cases were rejected.

Health workers seen on duty were doctors, pharmacists and laboratory assistants but nurses and others stayed away from work.

The Nurses and Midwives Association of Nigeria’s Chairman Omiagboa Benjamin said the strike was in solidarity with the directive from its national body.
